Wal-Mart Witnessing
Wal-Mart is known as the “Saving Place” so we set up a table in front of the Gilroy store on Saturday and prayed that God would save some! We had plenty of gospel tracts and were ready to share the Good News with whoever God brought our way. Of course, first you must tell the bad news so the Good News makes sense. That’s why it is so important for ALL Christians to learn how to share the gospel biblically using God’s Law first, to convict of sin, before sharing the Good News of the Cross.
I had been praying that God would prepare the soil of the hearts of the people He wanted us to talk to and then bring them to us, and He did! After noticing a Ticket to Hell tract I thought to myself that only the goth, punks or satanists would pick up that tract. There was also a cool Survey Tract that went with a sign board leaning against the wall, but no one was looking at it. All of a sudden a motorcycle drove up onto the sidewalk and par ked behind our table. The guys helmet had devil horns on it! The motorcyclist sat there a while reading the sign board so I quickly grabbed the Survey Tract and the Ticket to Hell. God had prepared me to be waiting for him and He’d prepared this man’s heart. As I went through the Survey Tract questions, God’s sovereignty came up and he said, “Of course God exists and will judge everyone”, etc, in a manner that said someone would be dumb if they ever thought otherwise. I was shocked to find him so receptive. On his own he said it was bad that he couldn’t remember more than half the Ten Commandments. He admitted he was guilty of breaking God’s Law and going to Hell on Judgment Day. He even went so far as to tell me he knew what Christ did and was concerned about his guilt. As I explained God’s grace more thoroughly we talked about prayer, the importance of reading God’s Word, and the struggle of faith. This man said he did pray and try to follow God, but knew he needed to soak himself in God’s Word. He wanted to take a Bible with him but didn’t have room to carry it on his bike so I gave him a pocket size gospel of John. The amazing thing I learned while talking to this man was that he was obviously well educated with parts of God’s Word, but he needed help in putting all the pieces together. That’s what the Law of God does, it makes the gospel make sense! God had been planting seeds in this man for a long time. Please pray that he buys a Bible to soak up God’s Word and truly repents and gets saved.
